Don't misplace your parking pass for the Philadelphia Folk Festival...no...we didn't!! (yes, it kind of amazes us too)...we've done it many times at other festivals, but not Philly. Its so big, and there's so many security people you just really don't want to have to explain yourself that many times. The Philadelphia Folk Festival is by far the largest gathering of people we've ever played for, its huge...its the only place we've played with a Jumbo-tron--big video screens on either side of the stage so the people way in the back can see. This year was their 40th Anniversary--it was the third time we were asked to perform. The lineup was wonderful, from Judy Collins, to Tom Rush, to Arlo, to David Bromberg (one of Rich's guitar hero's), and on and on and on. The other amazing thing about Philly are the volunteers--there are thousands of them, and they obviously love what they are doing--sometimes you think they could just get together without any of us performer types and have just as much fun. And then there's the campground...well that would take another whole page... The highlight for us was probably
the songwriting workshop we did with Tom Paxton and Anne Hills on Friday
afternoon, under the trees in the Grove--every once in a while you have
those moments where you suddenly remember just why it is you started doing
this in the first place, this workshop was one of those moments.
Good thing we didn't lose the parking pass--might have missed the whole
set.
