What can we say? We've passed by this beautiful sight several times. If you drive Idaho 33 between Driggs and Victor watch for it, its hard to miss, really--this is a full-size flat bed truck. We actually have a collection of postcards from the SPUD--there's one where they've added some foil, a giant pat of butter and a fork... This is in the area of Idaho they refer to as "behind the spud curtain" --over Teton Pass from Jackson, WY (those are the Tetons from the Idaho side in the background). We passed by on our way from Dornan's in Moose, WY, at the south entrance to Teton Park. Dornan's is a great place and always a fun night--a lot of that has to do with Bob Dornan and family who run the place. It also has the prettiest view you will ever see from a barroom window. It was, shall we say, an interesting
month. From Fond du Lac, WI to Vancouver, to Placerville, CA--with
stops in between of course. Some planned, others not so planned...take
the transmission trouble in Twin Falls, ID (never go to Aamco), actually
they were fixing something that wasn't fixed right the first time (by that
other Aamco guy in Philly...isn't that their slogan?? "Fix it right the
first time"?? Hah!!)...being very nice about but not moving real fast.
We got to hear a pretty good country duo in the lounge at the Best Western,
though, and they got us out and on the road to San Jose, CA with just enough
time to spare until...we got stuck on...Donner Pass...ok, not stuck, just
severely slowed with tire chains for 50 miles or so. Worst storm
of the year they said...ah, timing...we never made it to San Jose that
night, first time in eight years that snow kept us from getting to a show--and
the show was in San Jose, CA!!...go figure.
